ICAC FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH IPEP TO PROMOTE
ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Washington, D.C. The Institute of Clean Air Companies (ICAC) has partnered with the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP) to promote their multi-disciplinary, multi-media environmental certification. The certification program evolved from visionary members of the Air & Waste Management Association who saw the need for a broad-based environmental credential. The motivation for such a credential was to establish a program of certification that would allow those who use the services of environmental professionals to select competent and experienced individuals with a commitment to a Code of Environmental Ethics. Seven premier environmental organizations, including ICAC, have partnered with IPEP to support the certification.

ICAC will work with IPEP to promote the certification within the ICAC membership who provides emissions control and monitoring technologies for sources complying with environmental regulations. ICAC’s Executive Director, David Foerter stated, “that the certification provides another means by which ICAC member companies can promote the professional development of their employees and demonstrate to their clients and other stakeholders a higher professional standard and ethic. Obtaining the certification is an achievement, but the encouragement of continuing professional development through education and participation in professional activities is also one of the better attributes of the certification.”

IPEP provides both the Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) certification for professionals with more than five years of experience in the environmental field and also the Environmental Professional Intern (EPI) certification for students and those with less than five years of experience in the environmental field. Attainment of IPEP’s certification demonstrates a breadth of knowledge in environmental sciences and commitment to excellence through continued professional development.
