AIR POLLUTION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY MARKETS HINGE ON ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATORY CERTAINTY

Total Air Pollution Control Technology Market to Hover Around $4 Billion a Year

Washington, D.C.  The Institute of Clean Air Companies (ICAC), forecasts that the overall U.S. market for air pollution control and monitoring technology is around $4 billion a year (constant 2008 dollars) and is expected to increase to almost $6 billion by 2012.  Most technology sectors of the overall industry will increase marginally during this period depending on the outcome of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency actions on clean air regulations for the power sector.  The largest sectors remain SO2 and NOx control technology although major gains in the particulate control sector have been noted.

Commenting on these findings, ICAC Executive Director David Foerter stated, “These are exciting and challenging times particularly given relatively recent vacature of major EPA rules, work on Climate Change initiatives and legislation, and the recent change in administration.  The forecast shows that the markets for most individual technology sectors in the industry will remain fairly strong, giving the air pollution control technology industry some momentum over the forecast period.  The industry is optimistic that clean air initiatives and economic growth will sustain this momentum beyond the 2012 forecast horizon.  Full, common-sense implementation and enforcement of the Clean Air Act, which opinion polls show that the U.S. public enthusiastically supports to protect its health and environment, will pay a dividend of new American jobs in the engineering and construction industries as these pollution control technologies are installed.”

The 100 page Air Pollution Control Equipment Market Forecasts analyzes the U.S. market for electrostatic precipitators, fabric filters, VOC control systems, NOx control systems, wet particulate scrubbers, mechanical collectors, flue gas desulfurization systems, utility reagent usage, and continuous emission monitoring systems annually through year 2012.  Accompanying each product forecast is an analysis of market trends and the technological, regulatory, and general market influences.  Historical statistics and a statistical forecast summary in both constant and inflated dollars are also included.

ICAC’s July 2009 Market Forecast is free to regular members and available to non-members for $2,300.  To order, send a check or purchase order to ICAC, 1730 M Street, NW, Suite 206, Washington, D.C. 20036.  To place an order using credit card, or to request a free copy of the report’s table of contents, contact ICAC at 202.457.0911, or email: icacinfo@icac.com.

ICAC is the nonprofit association of companies that supply air pollution control technology and monitoring systems for stationary sources.  Its mission is, in part, to work to assure clean air policy that promotes public health, environmental benefit, and industrial progress.
