Lhoist North America

Lhoist is a global supplier of high quality calcium based products, including flue gas desulfurization limestone and lime, and Sorbacal® engineered hydrated lime sorbents for flue gas treatment. Sorbacal® SP is a highly reactive hydrated lime sorbent for acid gas (SO2, SO3, HCl, HF, H2SO4), arsenic, and selenium abatement. Sorbacal®  SPS is chemically activated to provide further improved performance while improving electrical resistivity, making it more compatible with electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).  Lhoist also offers blended activated carbon (PAC) – hydrated lime sorbents for simultaneous capture of mercury (Hg) and acid gases with a single sorbent. Lhoist can provide temporary injection equipment, acid gas and/or mercury measurement equipment, data analyses, and application experts to identify and implement an optimized DSI solution.

Origen Carbon Solutions

Origen is a technology company seeking to develop decarbonization projects through partnerships. They have developed an oxy-fuel kiln that separates the CO2 efficiently during lime production, allowing for 100% capture of emissions and the production of zero-carbon lime. In collaboration with Singleton-Birch (the UK’s largest lime manufacturer), they are constructing a pilot plant, due to be operational in 2022. With other partners, Origen has mapped lime facilities across North America to assess the opportunity for deploying its kiln for integrated CO2 transport/storage and monetization. Origen believes its solution can be highly attractive for advancing both the sustainability of the sector and improving its economics. In addition, Origen’s zero-carbon lime can be paired with carbon removal technologies to go after thousands-millions-billions of tonnes of CO2.
